Warlord Yegevny Prigozhin has declared war on Russia after
claiming the Russian army launched rocket strikes on his private military
company.
The warlord said that “the evil brought by the military leadership
of the country must be stopped” shortly after Russia allegedly attacked their
allies.
The mad military leader said that Russian soldiers launched
a rocket strike against a Wagner PMC camp, adding: “There are many victims.
According to the fighters who
witnessed the strike, it came from the rear, meaning it was launched by troops
with the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation.”
In response to the threat, Russia has launched a criminal
case against Prigozhin for allegedly inciting an armed rebellion, and called on
the warlord to cease his actions.
Russia’s top spin doctor Dmitry Peskov said that Putin was
well aware of the warlord’s words, telling journalists in Russia: “President
Putin has been informed of all the events around Prigozhin. Necessary measures
are being taken.”
Russia has also denied claims of an attack.
The warlord claimed that a “huge number of fighters were
killed” in the attack.
He was heard in an audio file shared on Telegram saying: “We
will deal with those who destroy Russian soldiers. And we will return to the
frontline.
"Justice in the Army will be restored. And after this,
justice for the whole of Russia."
While he was quick to say that he was not launching a coup
and instead was beginning a “march to Russia,” he starkly warned that anyone
who tried standing in the way of the private army would suffer.
“Everyone who will try to resist, we will consider them a
danger and destroy them immediately, including any checkpoints on our way. And
any aviation that we see above our heads,” he warned.
Unconfirmed reports have suggested that what’s left of the
Wagner group began firing on roads used by the Russian army near Bakhmut,
seemingly in retaliation for the rocket attack against their camp.
The attacks come after months of infighting between Wagner
and the Russian army.
Just last month, Prigozhin accused Vladimir Putin's military
chiefs of betrayal on Russia's Victory Day for allegedly withholding ammunition
and orchestrating a retreat in Ukraine, the
Daily Star reported.
