Russia launches massive overnight rocket attack on Ukraine

On June 25, Russian troops launched one of the biggest missile strikes on Ukraine to date.

The Russian invaders fired half a hundred missiles at Ukraine almost simultaneously.

Missile strikes were inflicted on Lviv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, and Mykolayiv regions of Ukraine.

Mykolayiv experienced the massive missile strike closer to the morning, said Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces.

The strike targeted local port, residential and recreation areas. According to Humeniuk, the Russians launched Oniks-type missiles from the temporarily occupied Crimea. The scale of the destruction and the presence of victims are being clarified.

Russia also fired about 30 missiles at the Zhytomyr Region. It caused minor destruction of local military objects. One Ukrainian serviceman was killed and one injured.

According to the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Ukrainian forces shot down about 10 missiles over the region. The missiles were launched from aircraft flying over Belarus.

Around 5 am, the invaders fired at the Chernihiv Region, striking Desna village. This was reported by the Operational Command “North”. Twenty missile strikes were launched from the territory of Belarus with aircraft and from the ground. Some infrastructure facilities were destroyed. According to the preliminary data, no casualties were reported.

Six enemy missiles hit the Lviv Region. At about 4 a.m., a military object situated in the Yavoriv District was hit with several missile strikes. The West Air Force Command shot down two missiles. Four missiles reached the target.

Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense units have also shot down two Russian missiles over the Khmelnytskyi Region. The missile fragments fell in two districts of the region. No casualties were reported. Windows and doors in several residential houses were damaged.

In the Kharkiv Region, shelling resumed in the Chuhuiv District at around 5 am. Residential houses and outbuildings caught fire. In total, 5 locals were injured. One person died in Balaklia.
