Vladimir Putin shot down the MH17 passenger plane in a revenge attack for the US shooting down the Malaysia Airlines MH370 flight, an expert has suggested.
Florence De Changy, who has been searching for the missing MH370 flight since it vanished in 2014, revealed that the doomed flight could be connected to the downing of the MH17 jet over Ukraine just four months later.
In her book, The Disappearing Act: The Impossible Case of MH370, She claims that Putin could have given the order to shoot down MH17 to get back at the US and cosy up to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
153 Chinese Citizens were killed when the MH370 flight crashed after Florence claims the US Air Forces shot the plane out of the sky in a bid to stop secret tech from getting to China.
She says a source revealed that Putin told Xi Jinping after the disappearance: 'What happened is not acceptable. Leave it to me'.
Just four months after MH370 disappeared from flight radar on the night of March 8th, a twin plane that was the exact same make, model, airline and almost the same name was struck by a missile over Ukraine.
Russia was blamed for the attack that killed 240 Westerners with 58 others among the dead and four military men were named as suspects by Dutch investigative journalist Bellingcat.
No Chinese nationals were on board the doomed flight, another suggests that the jet would have been a perfect target in Putin's plan.
She believes the 'Mafia-style' shooting down of the Malaysian Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was a way of Putin sending a clear message to the US - 'you mess with us, and we'll mess with you.'
She describes how Putin planned the attack to 'hit back at the niece or brother so that the message gets back to the boss'.
Florence told SunOnline: "What is obvious is that the likelihood of this double accident is basically beyond statistics.
"... To have two planes of the same model and the same company destroyed in four months should not be treated as just bad luck.
"I looked for information that could oppose this scenario or prove it wrong... and did not find any.
"On the contrary, I noticed that Xi and Putin were getting closer than ever during that period of time and they happened to have been physically together in Brazil when MH17 was downed.
"The day before, they talked of taking their relationship to a new 'higher level' and Putin mentions 'striking the iron while it's hot'.
"I also discussed this [theory] with people in that world [intelligence services] and to my great surprise, the more informed and high ranking they were, the less shocked they seemed about this hypothesis.
"In fact, one told me, the more outrageous the more likely it is to be true, in this kind of operation."
Florence, a journalist for 30 years, also spoke with German Aviation expert Dr Christoph Klingenberg who said the chances of the two disasters being unrelated was 0.009 per cent - equivalent to once every 32,000 years.
MH17 TRAGEDY
On July 17 2014, just four months after the MH370 disappearance, disaster struck again when flight MH17 was shot down killing all 298 onboard.
The dead included ten Britons, 193 Dutch, 38 Australians and 43 Malaysians. Eighty victims were children.
The Boeing 777-200ER left Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport at 12.31pm local time and was due to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 6.10am Malaysian time.
Air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane two hours and 49 minutes after take-off when it was about 50km from the Russia-Ukraine border.
Smouldering debris and personal belongings were found scattered over a large area in territory controlled by pro-Russia rebels.
A 15-month investigation by the Dutch Safety Board revealed the aircraft had crashed after being hit by a Russian-made Buk surface-to-air missile.
There was an outpouring of grief from around the world after the MH17 tragedy but China remained suspiciously quiet - offering no condolences.
Leading up to the mid-air disaster, Putin and Xi were becoming increasingly close - with at least five meetings taking place before the plane was shot down.
In fact, just hours before the plane plunged Xi and Putin were all smiles when they meet at the BRICS Summit in Brazil.
A meeting perfectly timed to decide on a deadly outcome Florence claims - to down the jet in a shocking revenge attack.
The two countries have always considered themselves close allies against the West - it's possible China may not have wanted to turn its back on Russia by condemning the 'perpetrators'.
Speaking at the time, Rory Medcalf of the Lowy Institute for International Policy, said: "China and Russia have gone out of their way to help each other in difficult geopolitical situations a number of times this year.
"... The more they help each other, the more isolated they become and therefore the more they need to help each other."
In the days and weeks after the MH17 disaster, China even went as far as to support Russia and criticize the West for pointing the finger at Moscow too quickly - branding sanctions as 'rash'.
China's state-media publication the Global Times wrote: "The Western rush to judge Russia is not based on evidence or logic.
"Russia had no motive to bring down MH17; doing so would only narrow its political and moral space to operate in the Ukrainian crisis.
"...It is yet another example of the power of Western opinion as a political tool."
Both countries are also known for engaging in aggressive foreign policy, with Putin currently waging war in Ukraine - a cause also backed by China.
Having flight MH17 downed over the neighbouring country in 2014, the same year Putin's forces annexed Crimea, could have provided a perfect opportunity to put Ukraine in the firing line.
In fact, in 2018, Russia did just that and claimed that they had 'top secret information that proved the missile was fired by Kyiv forces, Russia Today reported.
Despite this mystery evidence, a Dutch court ruled that Russian forces were responsible for the death of all 298 people on board.
China's silence over the MH17 attack could have also been an attempt to lay low after signing a whooping £237billion deal with Russian gas giant Gazprom in May of the same year.
The deal meant that Russia would supply gas to China for the next 30 years - the contract being signed in the presence of the two leaders.
Putin had been pushing to close the deal for the last decade with him calling the agreement the 'largest in the gas sphere during the era of the USSR and Russia'.
It would have been in Vlad's interest to maintain a close relationship with Xi, possibly at all costs.
Other theories have suggested that Vlad could have been behind both plane crashes as a way of lashing out at the West for sanctions over annexed Crimea.
Jeff Wise, an aviation expert, claimed the missing MH30 jet was hijacked on Putin's ordered and forced to land in Kazakhstan as was part of a bizarre conspiracy.
MH370 DISASTER
The official script for MH370's disappearance suggests the plane executed a dramatic U-turn less than an hour into its planned flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing - before plummeting into the Indian Ocean.
But de Changy has branded the finding a "diversion operation" which is "the biggest cover-up in recent times".
In her 400-page publication, the French reporter suggests the US Air Force attempted to ambush the plane by intercepting tracking technology to cause the aircraft to disappear from radar screens.
She believes the MH370 was carrying a shipment of "electronic equipment" over to China - which the US did not approve of.
The book claims it was shot down after a failed attempt at re-routing its course, and the matter has been feverishly covered-up ever since.
She believes the shipment included 2.5 tonnes of "poorly documented Motorola electronics equipment" which belonged to the United States.
Beijing caught wind of the delivery and decided to make a bid for it by re-routing the aircraft through Kuala Lumpar before it headed to China's sprawling capital.
In a game of tit-for-tat, US authorities allegedly opted to intercept the cargo by forcing the MH7370 to land and swiping it - before sending it on its way.
Two US Airborne Early Warning planes could have crowded the Malaysian plane from above and below to block its magnetic field and make it invisible, she said.
Talking about the relations between the US and China Florence said: "I looked at the relationship and exchanges that took place between US and China at the time and I was puzzled to see China was pretty transparent about the fact that there was a phone call with Barack Obama the very next day.
“This phone call was never mentioned, why was the White House embarrassed to say there was a phone call with Xi Jinping and MH370 was discussed.
“If you acting in good faith you have no concern, on the contrary, it's a way of saying we send out condolences and we discussed an issue everyone is concerned about.
“But instead of that, they hide it, that was strange…It was my first red flag."
However, Florence says she cannot rule out the hypothesis that China could have shot down the passenger plane in its own airspace.
Florence says it could be possible that the Chinese were spooked when the plane, flanked by two US radar planes, flew into the sensitive region.
This could have led to a joint cover up by the superpowers which is backed by the eyewitness account of Peter Chong.
Chong, a friend of MH370’s pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah, 52, told Florence he was on a Malaysian flight over the Gulf of Thailand a few days after the aircraft was lost when the crew on board told him to look at the wreckage “to your left”.
He claims he saw a cleanup operation taking place in the South China Sea.
MILITARY DRILLS
On the night MH370 disappeared, America was conducting two military search and rescue operations in the area of the South China Sea - Cobra Gold and Cope Tiger.
Florence explains that the key theme of the Cope Tiger drill that took place that same night was search and rescue yet none picked up the vanished plane.
She said: "It is the best-case scenario, annual exercises precisely to help with an emergency situation altogether coordinating all the navies, everyone is on the spot.
“They completely cover up, it's not mentioned, weeks and months later I heard about this. So inconsistent. It would have been a god sent that these exercises were ongoing.
“You had all this military equipment, the purpose was to do emergency sea rescue, it adds to the cover-up."
Another theory put forward but Richard Godfery suggests the doomed flight crashed over the Southern Indian Ocean.
He claims to have discovered the final resting place of the jet using new tracking technology.
He claims the system using radio signals acting like "tripwires" has helped him locate the jet which he says lies 13,000ft below the surface of the ocean.
He sensationally told Australia's 7News he believes the crash happened after a “hijacking” which was an “act of terrorism” by pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah.
